This is a square plug-in mat measuring 20 x 20.75 in, wide enough to warm several flats or a cluster of small pots at once. Far-infrared film runs under a quad-layer PVC skin and spreads warmth evenly from edge to edge. The film gives a softer heat than wire coils, which keeps hot spots from scorching seed. Plug it into a wall outlet and it heats the media to between 80 and 87°F. In practice that means up to 20°F over room air. There is no dial or switch on this model. The mat runs at full output whenever it has power, so control comes from where you plug it in. Peak draw is 40 W on a standard 100-125V AC circuit. A 60-inch cord leaves the mat through a sealed connection. Every seam is welded shut to an IP-67 rating against water and dust. Drips from a watering can or a leaking tray stay outside the heating film. The vinyl face wipes down with a damp cloth between crops. Running a Germination Heat Mat Across a Full Bench

Lay the mat flat on a bench or shelf and spread the trays across it so no section sits uncovered. Keep it fully unrolled, because overlapping layers of the mat build up heat. A humidity dome over each tray holds in moisture while seed coats soften. Sow two or three seeds to a cell so a slow one does not leave a gap. Lift the dome slightly as soon as green shows, giving the young shoots air. Pull each tray off the heat once about half its cells are up. Fast germinators and slow ones can share the mat, since each tray comes off on its own schedule. Warm-season vegetables such as peppers and eggplant tend to sprout slowly in a cold room and benefit most. In a heated grow room, a plug-in thermostat with a probe in the media can hold a set point. A plug timer is another simple way to cut the heat overnight. Watch moisture closely under grow lights, since warm roots and strong light dry plugs fast. Bottom water rather than flood from above, so the media stays loose. Keep the mat indoors and off the floor where it could be stepped on.
