Ruck Air Movement Intake Filter Box for 10 Inch Duct

This box cleans the air coming into a grow room, greenhouse or workshop through 10-inch ducting. It sits inline, with a round 10 in collar on each side of a square galvanized steel housing. Inside is a fiber mat filter rated ISO Coarse 45% (G3), the equivalent of MERV 5. That grade traps dust, pollen, insects, lint and other airborne debris before they reach plants, fans or coils. Ruck rates the box for minimal airflow restriction on the duct line. The lid is held by toggle-type fasteners and opens by hand. The housing measures 12.0 x 12.1 x 7.8 in and weighs 5.9 lb. Small feet on the base let the box be screwed down to a floor, shelf or frame. It is rated for ambient temperatures up to 80°C, or 176°F. The filter mat is recyclable once it is spent. Installing a Fresh Air Intake Filter Box

Place the box at the start of the intake run, where outside or hallway air first enters the duct. On an active intake, mount it upstream of the intake fan so the fan pulls air through the mat. On a passive intake, connect it to the inlet opening so air drawn in by the exhaust fan passes through it first. Slide the ducting over each collar and secure it with a clamp. Seal the joints with foil tape so no air slips around the mat. Leave room above the lid to open the toggles and lift out the filter. Ruck recommends changing the mat every three to six months. A room near a dusty road, a barn or a pollen-heavy field will load the mat sooner. Check it during routine room maintenance and swap it once the surface turns grey with dust. A clean intake keeps dust off leaves and cuts down the insects that ride in on incoming air. It also protects fan blades and any AC or dehumidifier coils further down the line. The mat is a coarse grade built for particles. Odor on the exhaust side is a job for a carbon filter.
