Quest Dual 110/150 Return Duct Kit: Ducted Intake for Two Models
This return kit, part number 4039697, ducts the intake of a Quest Dual 110 (PN 4034220) or Dual 150 (PN 4034230). It consists of a duct plate with a 10 in collar already attached. Eight T25 Torx screws fasten the plate to the cabinet. The plate lines up with eight pilot holes on the unit, so no layout or measuring is needed. Ductwork and register grilles are sold separately. Once the intake is ducted, the dehumidifier can sit outside the room it treats. A mechanical room, closet or service corridor keeps the cabinet out of the canopy and away from foot traffic. Moist air then travels to the unit through the return duct. Quest suggests using this kit together with the supply duct kit, part 4033039. That kit puts duct collars on the side outlets, so dry air can travel back to the room. With both kits installed, the dehumidifier treats the space fully ducted. Quest also offers matching flex duct, part 4026969, and an insulated version, part 4022126.
Fitting a Dehumidifier Intake Duct on the Dual 110 or 150
Disconnect the dehumidifier from power and remove any ductwork already in place. Gather a T25 Torx driver and a drill before starting. Hold the duct plate and collar against the intake and align them with the eight pilot holes. The flanges on the plate belong on the sides and bottom when the plate is in position. Start with the top two screws, then work down around the plate. Do not overtighten the screws, since the plate only needs to seat evenly. Then connect the duct to the collar and clamp or tape every joint. Keep the run short and straight, because each elbow and extra foot adds static pressure. A restrictive return cuts the airflow the unit can move. Insulate any section of duct that passes through a cold attic or crawlspace so it does not sweat. Draw the return from the humid room, and never from the unit's own discharge. Leave the far end of the duct open to the room with a grille that does not choke the airflow. Check the unit's air filter regularly, because a clogged filter adds to the restriction. Keep at least one foot of clearance around any intake or outlet that stays open to the room.
