Dilution Solutions Nutrient Delivery System Starter Kit, 1 1/2 Inch

Every water-powered nutrient panel starts with the same job: clean, steady water reaching the first doser. This kit, part HYKSTART150, handles that inlet end on a 1 1/2 inch Hi-Flo system. The Hi-Flo water-powered series covers flow from 5 to 40 GPM. Water enters through a ball valve and an elbow, then passes a Y filter that catches grit before it reaches the Dosatron pistons. Right after the filter sits a cross fitting with three jobs. One side carries a pressure gauge, stepped down through two reducer bushings, so you can read line pressure at a glance. The opposite side holds a fresh water port with its own ball valve and hose adaptor. That port pulls clean, untreated water for rinsing or topping up a tank. The third side runs through a check valve and union toward the dosers. The check valve keeps treated solution from flowing back toward the supply. Two rolls of thread seal tape come with the fittings. To finish the system, add Dosatron dosers, mixing chamber kits, a monitor or end kit and a water hammer arrestor kit. The dosers are sold separately.

Mounting the Hi-Flo NDS Inlet

Lay every kit out on the floor in its final sequence before anything goes on the wall. The starter goes first, then the dosers, mixing chambers and the monitor or end kit. Mount the panel four to five feet above the floor, on a wall rated to carry around a hundred pounds. It takes two people to hold the run level while the hangers go in. Keep the Dosatron inlet and outlet above the top of the concentrate barrels, which sit directly below the panel. Wrap every male thread with five or six turns of tape, clockwise, and keep pipe dope off this system. Thread the cross onto the outlet side of the filter, with the filter valve pointing toward you. Turned that way, it stays clear of the gauge. Build the fresh water port on the far side of the cross, handle facing out. Fit the gauge assembly to the left and the check valve assembly to the right. Finish the inlet side with the elbow, union, nipple and main ball valve, elbow facing left. Open the main valve slowly on the first fill and check the gauge before the dosers start to cycle.

Key Features

  • Y Filter: Catches grit at the inlet before it reaches the Dosatron pistons and seals.
  • Pressure Gauge: Reads line pressure at the head of the panel.
  • Check Valve: Stops treated solution from running back toward the supply.
  • Fresh Water Port: A separate ball valve and hose adaptor for clean, untreated water.
  • Shut-Off Ball Valve: Isolates the whole panel from the supply for service.
  • Union Connections: Unions let each section come off without cutting pipe.
