Netafim Check Valve With Purple Pin for Overhead Emitters

When a fogging or misting line shuts off, water left in the pipe tends to drain out of the lowest heads onto the crop. This Netafim valve, item 63000-003005 and model 0340017-B, is installed at each head to stop that. Its purple pin marks the setting: it opens at 28 psi (2.0 bar) and closes at 13 psi (0.9 bar). Below the opening pressure the head stays shut, so no water dribbles out while the line fills. Once line pressure passes 28 psi, every valve on the zone opens at about the same moment. When the zone shuts down and pressure drops to 13 psi, the valves close and hold the pipe full. Netafim describes this anti-drain action on its CoolNet Pro misters as simultaneous start and stop with no pipe drainage or dripping. On a CoolNet Pro hanging assembly, the valve sits between the male x male connector and the barb x female connector. The body is molded with an arrow showing flow direction and an AA mark. Valves come 25 to a bag.

Fitting a Fogger Anti-Drain Valve to Each Drop

Netafim's price list uses this purple-pin setting on its standard CoolNet Pro four-nozzle fogger assembly. That fogger is rated at 8.1 GPH at 60 psi, comfortably above the valve's opening point. Check that the system's working pressure is well above the opening pressure before choosing this pin. Install each valve with its arrow pointing toward the emitter. Hang the drop straight, with the stabilizer weight below the head, so the valve and nozzle sit vertical. Every head on a zone should carry the same pin color so the whole line opens and closes together. Netafim recommends 120 mesh filtration for CoolNet Pro systems. A clean supply protects both the nozzles and the valve seat. After installation, run the zone and watch for heads that keep dripping after shutdown. Reseat the valve on any head that keeps dripping, and clear debris from its seat.
