Netafim says its bow-tie pattern doubles the size of the spray pattern. That lets the stake sit close to the trunk while wetting soil on both sides. Placing it near the stem also keeps water off the base of the trunk, a weak point on some species. The rod mount slides onto a 12 gauge metal rod, sold separately in 8 in and 12 in lengths. Building a 10.6 GPH Double Spray Stake Station

Punch a 3 mm hole in the supply line, insert the dripper and tubing, then press the stake onto the elbow. Netafim specifies operation between 22 and 55 psi, with 120 mesh central filtration. An inlet filter at each assembly is swept clean by the flow in the pipe. A check valve feature holds water in the line on slopes of up to 10 ft, so low pots are not flooded. On 1 in PE pipe at 72 in spacing and 35 psi, Netafim's chart allows a run of 594 ft serving 99 pots. To close a single head, move the nipple and tubing from the top of the stake to its side. That side position is visible from a distance, so crews can spot closed heads quickly. The downward spray keeps water on the mix rather than over the rim.
