Netafim Black Spray Stake for Container Pots

A dripper wets one spot in a large pot, while a spray stake spreads water across the whole surface of the mix. This Netafim stake, item 22500-001220 and model 01SSBK-B, is the black, 7.0 GPH member of the non-pressure compensating line. Netafim shapes its spray pattern to match the outline of the pot, so water and fertilizer land on the mix rather than the walls. An even, wetted surface holds more water in the mix and releases liquid or timed-release fertilizer evenly. Overspray and run-off drop, which saves water, energy and fertilizer. The stake is a simple one-piece molding, highly resistant to sunlight, fertilizers and chemicals. Netafim micro tubing fits securely onto the top of the stake. A spray direction indicator on one side lets an installer see or feel which way the spray will go. The close-off nipple sits on the side of the stake instead of the tip. Each bag holds 100 black stakes.

Setting and Cleaning a Container Spray Stake

Push the stake into the mix near the edge of the pot, with the indicator pointing toward the center. Getting the direction right the first time means no return trip to turn stakes after the first watering. Run the micro tube from the lateral and press it firmly onto the top of the stake. Because the flow is not pressure compensated, output depends on the pressure at each stake. Keep runs short and laid out evenly so the stakes at the end of a line see similar pressure to those near the valve. To shut off a single pot, move the tube onto the side close-off nipple. That side position keeps dirt out of the tube end and shows at a glance that the stake is closed. If a stake blocks, pull it from the tubing, rinse the flow channel and push it back on. Any field worker can clear a stake this way in a few seconds. The black body marks this flow rate, which helps when sorting stakes on a mixed bench.
