Netafim Series 80 3/4 Inch Valve With Timer for Remote Zones
A clone bench in an outbuilding may be the only zone for hundreds of feet. Running cable that far for one small valve rarely pays. This Netafim unit sidesteps the problem by mounting an Aqua Pro single-zone controller on the 3/4 in Series 80 globe body. A 9 V DC battery inside the controller is the only power source the assembly needs. It switches a 12VDC latching solenoid with a brief pulse, so the battery is drawn on only when the valve changes state. Programming happens on four buttons and a large LCD screen. Five operating modes range from one session at the same time daily to three sessions a day on chosen days. Manual and off modes sit alongside them for hand watering or a seasonal shutdown. The valve body is rated for 0.01 to 26 GPM at 7 to 150 psi, with water up to 140°F. On its own the valve measures about 3-15/16 x 3 x 4-3/8 in and weighs 0.62 lb.
Programming the Aqua Pro Valve Controller in the Field
Netafim aims these battery units at places where power or wiring is unavailable or too costly, and at manual systems being automated. Seasonal crops suit them too, because the whole valve lifts out with the drip lines at the end of a run. Enter the program on the Aqua Pro valve controller before the valve goes into service. Several units can share one supply line, each programmed on its own, with start times staggered so the zones run in turn. That keeps a small pump or a residential service line from carrying every zone at once. Install the valve upright with the flow arrow downstream, as the 2-way body is made for vertical mounting. The improved manual selector bleeds air internally without loosening the solenoid. A flow control stem trims the zone from fully closed to full capacity. The controller is water resistant and the parts are corrosion-proof, so the unit lives happily outdoors. Swap the battery at the start of each season.
