Netafim WMR 2 Inch Water Meter for Main Supply Lines
A pulse meter on the main tells you exactly how much water each block received, not just how long the valves were open. This is the Netafim 'WMR', item 70261-005060, built for 2 in main supply lines in agriculture and landscape work. Its body is cast iron with a polyester coating and male pipe thread connections. Inside, an in-line axial turbine lets foreign matter pass through the meter without clogging. Wide clearances in the measuring chamber give full pipe flow measurement and steady readings. The register is magnetically driven, hermetically sealed and stainless steel encapsulated, so it will not fog or take on moisture. Its reed switch closes once for every 10 gallons, a dry-contact signal any controller pulse input can count. Accuracy holds within ±2% from 8.8 GPM up to a 110 GPM maximum, with 88 GPM as the nominal flow. Flows from 2.0 GPM still register within ±5%. Working pressure is rated to 230 psi with liquids up to 131°F.
Setting Up a Netafim Flow Meter on the Header
Put it on the main ahead of the zone valves, where every gallon to the site passes through one point. Wired to an irrigation controller, the pulses build a log of gallons per cycle and per zone. A sudden jump in the count during a cycle often points to a broken lateral or a stuck valve. The same signal can pace a fertigation injector by volume rather than by run time. This Netafim flow meter needs straight pipe: ten pipe diameters upstream and five downstream, or about 20 in and 10 in. With the 14 in meter body, plan on roughly 44 in of straight run in total. It can sit in any position, but flow should run upward whenever it is not horizontal. Flush the pipeline thoroughly before fitting it, and keep the pipe full of water during metering. A continuous acting air vent clears trapped air that would otherwise spin the turbine and inflate the count. A tamper proof seal shows whether the register has been removed, and the warranty covers metering parts for three years and the body for five.
Key Features
- Reed switch register: One dry-contact pulse per 10 gallons for controllers, loggers and dosing systems.
- Axial turbine: Lets debris pass through the meter without clogging the measuring chamber.
- ±2% accuracy: Holds from 8.8 GPM up to the 110 GPM maximum.
- 230 psi cast iron body: Polyester-coated cast iron with male pipe thread ends.
- Sealed magnetic register: Stainless steel encapsulated dial that stays clear of fog and moisture.
- Any-position mounting: Installs horizontal or vertical, with upward flow on vertical runs.
- Tamper proof seal: Shows at a glance if the register has been removed.
