Netafim Series 80 2 Inch 12VDC Solenoid Valve for Large Zones

Plenty of grow operations run their irrigation from 12-volt relay modules, small DC panels or vehicle-style power. This Netafim valve fits that setup, with a 12VDC solenoid on the 2 in Series 80 globe body, item 71610-014524. Apply 12 volts and the zone opens; remove it and the normally closed valve shuts. There is no pulse polarity to manage, so any relay output that can switch 12 volts DC will drive it. Rated flow is 0.25 to 176 GPM, which takes in a full range of benches or a large outdoor block. Working pressure runs from 7 to 150 psi, with water up to 140°F. Loss through the globe body is about 4.3 psi at 80 GPM and 13.5 psi at 180 GPM. Body, bonnet and seat are glass-reinforced polyamide, with 304 stainless hardware and a 302 stainless spring. The valve measures about 6-9/16 x 6-1/2 x 6-5/8 in and weighs 2 lb. Command water reaches the diaphragm through a clog-free labyrinth inlet.

Powering a 12 Volt DC Irrigation Valve

Wire the coil to a relay channel and a 12-volt supply sized for every valve that may open at the same time. Keep cable runs short or use heavier wire, because a 12-volt circuit loses a larger share of its voltage over distance. On a battery and solar system, remember that this 12 volt DC irrigation valve draws current for as long as the zone runs. Add up the daily run minutes and size the battery and panel with that load included. If power fails mid-cycle, the valve closes and leaves the zone dry rather than flooded. Mount it upright with the flow arrow downstream, since the 2-way body is built for vertical installation. The flow control stem trims the zone from fully closed to full capacity while laterals are balanced. An integrated check valve keeps the body shut until the controller calls for water. Fit a filter ahead of the zone, since the labyrinth inlet protects the valve but not the emitters. A drip-tight seal ends each cycle cleanly.

Key Features

  • 12VDC solenoid: Switches from 12-volt relay modules and DC control panels.
  • Normally closed: The zone shuts whenever the 12-volt supply or signal drops.
  • 0.25-176 GPM range: Runs a full bench range or a large outdoor block on one 2 in valve.
  • Flow control stem: Trims or closes the zone by hand while balancing laterals.
  • Clog-free labyrinth inlet: Keeps the control chamber working on moderately dirty water.
  • Integrated check valve: Holds the valve shut until the controller calls for water.
  • Glass-reinforced nylon: Corrosion-resistant body with stainless 304 hardware.
