Netafim 2 Inch Pressure Reducing Valve for Large Blocks
Large drip and micro blocks need a steady pressure at the head, even when the supply rises and falls through the day. This Series 80 valve holds a preset downstream pressure on a 2 in line, model 61PRTH2GH3AN. A pressure reducing pilot on the bonnet senses outlet pressure and trims the main diaphragm to match the set point. When the outlet drops, the pilot lets the valve open wider, and when it climbs the valve throttles back. There is no solenoid, so it regulates whenever water is in the line. The 2 in angle body carries 0.25 to 176 GPM and accepts 7 to 150 psi at the inlet, with water up to 140°F. Fully open it adds very little loss, about 0.4 psi at 40 GPM and 4.0 psi at 130 GPM. Body, bonnet and seat are glass-reinforced polyamide, with 304 stainless fasteners and a 302 stainless spring. The housing measures about 3-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 6-13/16 in and weighs 1.8 lb. Pilot springs are colour coded by range: yellow 7-30 psi, green 14-65 psi and red 30-90 psi.
Setting Up a Hydraulic Pressure Reducing Valve on a Riser
Place it where one supply feeds blocks that need a lower, steadier pressure than the main can hold. Typical spots are the head of a greenhouse range fed by a booster pump, or a nursery block hanging off a high-pressure municipal main. The angle body sits right on top of a riser and turns the flow sideways with no elbow in the way. All controls ride on the bonnet, and no tubes connect to the valve body, which keeps the header tidy. Open the supply slowly the first time so the valve fills without a pressure spike. Then turn the pilot adjustment while watching a gauge downstream until the block reads its target. Adjust in small steps and let the gauge settle between each turn. This hydraulic pressure reducing valve mounts upright or on its side to suit a cramped valve box. It does not switch the block on and off by itself, so pair it with an electric zone valve or master valve for scheduling. A fully supported diaphragm gives tight sealing and steady regulation across the flow range. Check the set point each season, and again whenever a pump or filter station changes.
Key Features
- Hydraulic pressure reducing pilot: Holds a preset outlet pressure without wiring or a controller.
- 0.25-176 GPM range: Regulates a single drip block or a full greenhouse range on one 2 in valve.
- Angle body: Bottom inlet and side outlet remove the elbow on top of the riser.
- Bonnet-mounted controls: Pilot and controls sit on top, with no tubing plumbed into the body.
- Three pilot spring ranges: Yellow, green and red springs cover set points from 7 to 90 psi.
- Low loss when open: About 4.0 psi through the body at 130 GPM.
- Vertical or horizontal mounting: Fits upright on a riser or on its side in a tight valve box.
