What Ships in the NDS Inline Monitor Package
This is the monitor side of a Nutrient Delivery System, not the plumbing side. In the box is a Bluelab Guardian monitor with two inline probes. One reads pH and the other reads conductivity and temperature. The connections to tie them into a Dosatron line come with them. The mixing chamber is a separate kit and is not part of this package. The ranges are worth having in front of you. pH reads 0.0 to 14.0, at a resolution and accuracy of one tenth. Conductivity reads EC 0.0 to 5.0, CF 0 to 50, or ppm up to 2500 on the 500 scale and 3500 on the 700 scale. Temperature covers 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The probes thread into a 3/4 in fitting, and a 1 in NPT adapter is supplied for larger line. Power comes from a 100 to 240 volt supply feeding a low voltage output at 1.5 A. High and low alarms can be set on pH, conductivity and temperature, with LED indication on the face. Warranty runs two years on the monitor and six months on the inline pH probe.
Two Limits That Decide Whether Inline Nutrient Monitoring Will Work
Pressure is the first limit and it is the one people miss. The Guardian inline probes are rated to a maximum of 100 psi. The Lo-Flo system these probes belong to is itself rated to 85 psi. An unregulated municipal main can deliver well above both figures, which is why a pressure regulator belongs on this line. Flow is the second limit. The Lo-Flo three quarter inch system is built for lines up to 14 GPM, and a Hi-Flo version exists for anything larger. Reading above that range means reading a restricted line. The third thing worth knowing is where this sits in the kit family. Dilution Solutions build the system from a Starter Kit and a Mixing Chamber Kit. After those come either a Monitor Kit or an End Kit, plus a Water Hammer Arrestor Kit. It covers the monitor without the chamber, so a complete install still needs that chamber separately. Mount the probes downstream of a mixing chamber rather than ahead of it. That is what gives a reading of blended solution instead of a slug of concentrate.
Key Features
- Bluelab Guardian monitor: Supplied with inline probes rather than reservoir probes.
- pH, conductivity and temperature: Three readings on one face, updated continuously from the line.
- Ranges: pH 0.0 to 14.0, EC 0.0 to 5.0, and ppm up to 3500 on the 700 scale.
- High and low alarms: Settable on all three readings, with LED indication on the unit.
- Maximum 100 psi at the probes: Below what an unregulated mains supply can deliver to a line.
- Built for 3/4 in line: With a 1 in NPT adapter included for a larger pipe size.
- No mixing chamber included: That is a separate Dilution Solutions kit.
- Two year monitor warranty: With six months on the inline pH probe.
