Ideal-Air Pro Series 100 Pint Dehumidifier for Grow Rooms
The Ideal-Air Pro Series is a commercial-grade unit built for greenhouses, grow rooms and work spaces. This model removes up to 100 pints of water a day. It runs on a standard 115V, 60 Hz circuit and draws 728 W at 6.75 A. A heavy-duty compressor and a single-speed fan move room air across the coil. Condensate does not collect in a bucket you have to empty. An internal pump pushes it out through a 15 ft drain hose, so the unit can run around the clock. The casing is powder-coated metal, and the frame rides on large wheels with handles for moving it. A digital panel shows the room humidity and takes a set point anywhere from 20 to 90 percent RH. The unit switches on when the room rises 3 percent above that target and off when it falls 3 percent below. A continuous mode keeps it running regardless of the reading, and a timer can switch it on or off. A built-in defrost cycle protects the coil, with operation rated down to 41°F. If power drops, auto memory brings the unit back in its last mode. A removable filter at the intake can be washed and reused. The unit is ETL listed and carries a one-year warranty.
Setting Up a Dehumidifier With Pump Drainage
Stand the unit upright on its wheels for three hours before the first start. Plug it into a dedicated circuit with a surge protector, as Ideal-Air recommends. A voltage spike when power returns can damage the circuit board. Run the drain hose to a floor drain, sink or exterior line with the outlet pointing downward. Keep at least 4 in of clearance in front of the air inlet and outlet. Close doors and vents so the unit is not drying the whole building. Expect the room to warm by a degree or three, since the compressor gives off heat while it runs. In the dark cycle, set the target a little lower to keep humidity down when transpiration and cooler air push RH up. Press Drain to run the pump on demand for about thirty seconds. Check the filter weekly in a dusty room and wash it in warm water before it clogs. Never tip the unit past 45 degrees when moving it, or the compressor can be damaged. If the display shows E1 or E2, a temperature or coil sensor needs attention.
