Hurricane Pro 42 Inch Drum Fan for Large Grow Spaces

Hurricane builds this drum fan for big jobs in greenhouses, warehouse grows, garages and workshops. Its 42-inch aluminum blade moves 17,820 CFM at 850 RPM. The motor draws 5.3 A on a standard 120V/60Hz circuit. The drum body is all metal with a black powder-coated finish. Grills enclose the blade on the front and the back. The drum sits in a U-shaped bracket, and two adjustable knobs lock it at the chosen angle. That tilt aims the airflow level across a bench, up toward the roof or down along the floor. Two wheels on the bracket let one person roll the fan into position. The wheels arrive unattached and fit onto the bracket with the supplied screws. A switch on the control box sets the fan speed. Two hooks on the frame hold the 6 ft power cord when the fan is stored. The fan carries ETL certification. Shipping weight is 123 lb, so plan on two people to unload it.

Placing an Adjustable Tilt Drum Fan in a Greenhouse

Set the fan on a flat, stable floor where it cannot tip or be pulled over by its cord. Plug it straight into a wall outlet, since the manual rules out extension cords. It is also not rated for solid-state speed controllers or for outdoor use. In a greenhouse, push air down one side and back along the other, so the whole house turns over as a loop. Tilt the drum so the stream passes just above the canopy rather than straight into the plants. Strong air aimed point-blank at leaves can dry them out and cause wind damage. Run it through warm afternoons to break up hot pockets under the roof. After watering, aim it low across the floor to dry standing water and lower humidity at plant level. In a room enriched with CO2, angle it up from the floor to lift settled gas back toward the canopy. Turn it off while large exhaust fans are pulling air, so the two airflows do not work against each other. Unplug the fan before moving or cleaning it. Wipe the metal with a slightly damp cloth, never a wet one. Vacuum the grill, or remove the screw on its edge to lift the front grill off for a deeper clean. Clean the blade between crops so dust and spores are not blown back over the plants.
