Grower's Edge Soft Mesh Trellis Netting for Tents and Small Beds
This net is woven from soft nylon in white, with open squares measuring 6 in on each side. The sheet runs 5 ft x 15 ft, which gives you 75 square feet of support to work with. Across the 5 ft width that works out to about ten squares, and roughly thirty down the length. The strands are soft and non-abrasive, so stems and leaves can rest against them without scuffing. Nylon holds its strength under load, and the net lasts through repeated handling during a run. Six-inch openings leave plenty of room to reach through for pruning, tying and harvesting. They also let a branch push up through the mesh and settle into its own square. Strung flat above the pots, the net becomes a canopy screen that spreads tops into an even layer. Hung upright, it gives cucumbers, peas, beans and flowering vines a wall to climb. A 5 ft width spans a 4 x 4 tent with room to tie off, or a 5 x 5 tent edge to edge. At 15 ft long, one sheet can be cut into three square panels for stacked layers or separate spaces. The net folds into a compact pack that stores easily between runs.
Hanging 6 Inch Trellis Netting Over a Canopy
Set the first layer about 12 to 18 in above the medium, before plants stretch into flower. Tie each corner to a tent pole, frame or stake so the net sits taut and level. Clip or zip-tie the long edges every couple of feet to keep the middle from sagging. As shoots grow through the squares, tuck them under the strands and spread them toward open space. Keep tucking for the first weeks of flower so the canopy fills in evenly. Add a second layer roughly 12 in above the first to hold heavy tops upright late in the run. For a vertical trellis, anchor the top edge to a rail and the bottom to stakes or the bed frame. Guide each vine into the mesh by hand and the tendrils will take hold. At harvest, snip stems free of the net rather than pulling branches back through. Cut the net away in sections if the plants are too tangled to lift out cleanly.
