GC-30 Liquid is a dry sachet that generates pure chlorine dioxide (ClO2) when it soaks in water. Drop one envelope into 6 gallons of water inside a closed container and it produces a 500 ppm stock solution. Dilute that stock and the same sachet covers 30 gallons at 100 ppm, the working strength for room and surface disinfection. Activation takes at least two hours, and the envelope comes out once the reaction is complete. The product carries EPA Registration No. 74986-5 and is OMRI listed for organic production. It also appears on the EPA's List N of disinfectants. Chlorine dioxide kills by oxidation, breaking down cell walls rather than poisoning a target site. That mechanical action means pathogens do not build resistance to it over repeated use. Gard'n Clean lists Fusarium, Pythium, Botrytis, powdery and downy mildew, tobacco mosaic virus and hop latent viroid among its targets. Treated surfaces need no rinse after the contact time. The gas form lets the solution reach into crevices, drip emitters and biofilm that wipes miss.

Mixing a Chlorine Dioxide Disinfectant for the Grow Room

Pick a sealed, opaque container large enough for the batch and fill it with clean water first. Set it somewhere ventilated, out of light, while the sachet activates. During generation, wear eye protection, gloves and an organic vapor or acid gas respirator. Once the stock is made, it holds strength for up to 60 days in that sealed container. Between crop cycles, flush irrigation lines at about 50 ppm and let the solution sit for four to twelve hours. That soak loosens biofilm and clears slime from emitters before the next crop goes in. For pruners, trays and cutting tools, 25 to 50 ppm replaces a bleach dip without the harsh residue. Routine wipe-downs of benches and walls run lower, around 10 to 25 ppm. Diluted to 5 ppm, it works as a produce wash. In nutrient tanks and feed lines, a steady dose of 0.25 to 1 ppm keeps water clean through the run. Turn off HVAC and grow lights while fogging or spraying a room, since light breaks down chlorine dioxide. Confirm every working strength with wide range or low range test strips before use.
