Seabright Sticky Whitefly Traps With Odourless Stikem Special

These are yellow sticky panels from Seabright Laboratories, folded at 4 x 7 in and opening to 4 x 14 in of trapping surface. Seabright tunes the bright yellow to the aphids and whiteflies that land on fresh growth. Leafhoppers, froghoppers, fungus gnats and small moths end up stuck beside them. The coating is Stikem Special, an odourless, oil-based adhesive the maker lists as non-poisonous. A printed grid runs across the face, so each panel turns into a count. Every trap is punched for hanging and comes with a twist tie. The panels are weatherproof, so they keep working on a patio, an open bench or a vegetable bed. Whiteflies feed on leaf undersides and lift into the air when a plant is brushed, which is when they meet the panel. This listing carries a 3-trap header-card pack and a 5-trap poly-bag pack. Any adhesive that ends up on skin comes off with salad oil or baby oil.

Hanging Yellow Sticky Traps for Whiteflies Where They Feed

Whitefly adults gather on the youngest leaves near the tops, so hang the panels at plant level and raise them as the crop grows. Start near doors, vents and any plant that arrived from outside. UConn extension works from about one card per thousand square feet in a greenhouse, with extras at the entrances. On a patio or in a raised bed, a panel tied beside each affected plant gives a quick yes-or-no answer. Read the cards weekly and write the count down. The trend matters more than any single number. Rising counts point to eggs and nymphs on the leaves, which a panel cannot catch. Turn a few leaves over and look for the flat, scale-like nymphs before deciding what comes next. Take the cards down before releasing parasitic wasps, because the yellow pulls them in too. Hang new panels three or four days after the release.

Key Features

  • Bright yellow panels: The colour pulls in whiteflies and aphids, with leafhoppers, fungus gnats and small moths caught as well.
  • Stikem Special adhesive: An odourless, oil-based coating that Seabright lists as non-poisonous and that stays tacky outdoors.
  • Printed counting grid: Each panel becomes a weekly number you can log and compare across the season.
  • Hole and twist tie: Every trap is punched and supplied with a tie for a stake, branch or trellis wire.
  • Weatherproof build: The panels keep catching on patios, open benches and vegetable beds through rain.
  • Two pack formats: A 3-trap header-card pack and a 5-trap poly-bag pack carry the same panel.
