Reading the Label on Geoflora VEG
Guaranteed analysis is 5% total nitrogen, 3% available phosphate and 4% soluble potash, with 3% calcium, 0.5% magnesium and 1% sulfur. The nitrogen split is the part worth pausing on: 1% water soluble against 4% water insoluble. That ratio is what the brand means by discouraging burn, because only a fifth of the nitrogen is immediately available. Three further declarations sit on the panel: 0.6% humic acid, 0.4% yucca schidigera extract and 1.0% molasses. They are why the granule behaves like an amendment. Nineteen organic inputs make it up. Among them are alfalfa meal, bat guano, blood meal, bone meal, composted turkey litter, crustacean meal, feather meal, kelp, neem seed meal and rock phosphate. Specially selected beneficial bacteria are blended in alongside them. The rates are 8 oz, one cup, amended into soil before transplant, then 8 oz per ten gallon pot every two weeks until flowering. Native soil takes 1 oz, two tablespoons, per square foot.
Where a 5-3-4 Dry Fertilizer Belongs, and Where It Does Not
This is a soil product, and that matters. It works best in peat or coconut fibre based media. It should not be used in aquaponics or in soil-less substrates such as rockwool. The reason is the bacteria and the meals: both need a medium that holds and processes organic matter, and an inert slab does neither. Amend before you plant and you have a ready-to-plant mix rather than a feed schedule to run. From there the top dress goes on the surface and gets watered in, which is as much labour as the programme asks for. Geoflora VEG and its flowering partner run one to one. Whatever weight you use through veg, you use the same again after. The granule is dustless on purpose, and that matters more at the sack sizes than at the small bag. Nothing here is water soluble in the sense of mixing a reservoir, so growers on a recirculating system should look elsewhere entirely. The other honest caution is patience: a slow-release organic blend will not fix a deficiency this week. Start it at transplant and let it work rather than reaching for it mid-crop.
Key Features
- 5-3-4 analysis: Five percent nitrogen, three phosphate, four potash on the label.
- Mostly water insoluble nitrogen: 4% of the 5% releases slowly, which is what limits burn.
- Calcium, magnesium and sulfur: 3% calcium, 0.5% magnesium and 1% sulfur on the same panel.
- Humic, yucca and molasses: 0.6%, 0.4% and 1.0%, all three declared on the label.
- Nineteen organic inputs: Meals, guano, kelp, neem and rock phosphate among them.
- Beneficial bacteria included: Blended in, so the product seeds a soil web as it feeds.
- Dustless granule: Amending a room with it does not put powder in the air.
- One to one with the bloom formula: The programme uses equal weights of veg and flowering product.
- Not for rockwool or aquaponics: A soil and coco product.
