How the Tough Stuff Pack Sack Bin Liner Is Made

This bin liner is a 48 x 30 in lay-flat bag cut wide to line rectangular harvest totes and bins. It is made from thick, heat-resistant nylon film of the kind often called turkey or oven bag material. The film is heavier than a typical kitchen bag, so stems and plant material are less likely to puncture it. It withstands high temperatures and moisture, and it is BPA free. The material is made to hold in odours and aromas, which keeps a loaded tote from scenting the room. The open top folds over the rim of a tote or gathers and ties closed. The liner is suited to curing as well as moving and staging fresh material. Each box holds 25 liners, enough to cover a mid-size harvest.

Using a Harvest Tote Liner from Trim Table to Dry Room

A harvest tote liner keeps material off the tote walls, so the same bins can be reused all day without scrubbing between batches. Drop the liner into an empty tote and spread it into the corners before loading. Fold the spare film over the rim so it stays in place while the crew fills the bin. Fill the tote at the trim table, then fold the film over the top before moving it. Fold the top rather than knotting it when totes will be stacked, so lids still sit flat. Let the tote carry the weight, and lift by its handles rather than by the film. Leave headroom at the top so the liner can close without strain on the seams. Keep loaded totes out of direct light and heat while they wait for the next step. For curing, open the liner briefly each day to release moisture, then fold it closed again. Label each tote with the strain and date so batches stay separate from field to dry room.
