Botanicare CocoPro Plugs, Coir Starters That Ship Compressed

Botanicare ships these coir plugs dry and compressed, about 1 g each, so a full case takes little shelf space until it is needed. Hydrated, each plug swells to at least 35 x 35 x 30 mm, with height settling anywhere from 30 to 45 mm. The coir is a set ratio of pith, fibre and husk, buffered and washed before it is pressed. That leaves a low EC, a pH in range and no nutrient charge, so the feed program sets the diet from day one. Hydrate the plugs with a nutrient solution at pH 5.8 to 6.2, mixed at the same rate the crop will see once planted. Give them time to expand fully before a seed or cutting goes in. The plugs come in case quantities only, 1,400 or 3,000 to a case. Botanicare built them to deliver the consistency of a mineral wool starter plug in a coco medium. High aeration and moderate water holding give a fresh cutting both oxygen and steady moisture. Seeds and clones both start in the same plug.

Coco Coir Plugs That Feed Into the CocoPro Line

Once rooted, a plug moves straight into a CocoPro cube or plant-in bag, keeping the root zone in the same coir. That continuity means no change in water behaviour or pH when young plants step up. The media drains well enough for frequent small irrigations, which suits automated drip and fertigation. Lifting trays or reading a moisture sensor is the simplest way to judge when to water. Never let the plugs dry out hard between waterings, because dry coir is slow to take water back. Since the coir carries no nutrient charge, an underfed plug shows deficiency quickly, so keep the feed steady. CocoPro is designed for indoor rooms and greenhouses rather than outdoor beds. Spent coir goes to the compost once the crop is finished. Compressed plugs store clean and dry until the next run. Each plug behaves the same as the next, which keeps a large propagation bench uniform.

Key Features

  • Compressed for Storage: About 1 g per dry plug, so a full case stores compactly until hydrated.
  • Buffered, Washed Coir: A set ratio of pith, fibre and husk with low EC and a pH in range.
  • No Nutrient Charge: The feed program controls nutrition from the first watering.
  • Expands to 35 x 35 x 30 mm: A uniform plug for seeds or cuttings once fully hydrated.
  • Steps Into CocoPro Cubes and Bags: Roots stay in the same coir medium from plug to finish.
  • Built for Fertigation: Drains well enough for frequent small irrigations on automated systems.
