Aeromixer Pump: Mixing and Aeration in One Unit
Large feed tanks need two jobs done every day, mixing the nutrients and putting oxygen back into the water. This kit does both with one submersible pump and a patented Aerojet fitting. The Aerojet draws air down a braided nylon intake hose and injects it into the discharge stream. That stream circulates the whole tank while it dissolves air, so dry salts and liquids blend evenly. The Regular and Tall kits use a 3/4 HP pump rated to 4,450 GPH on 115V power. That pump lifts up to 40 ft, carries an IPX8 rating and handles fluid up to 95°F. The Mini kit uses a 1/6 HP pump rated to 1,600 GPH for smaller reservoirs. Each kit includes the Aerojet, the air intake hose, a powder-coated stabilizing foot with stainless screws and a nylon lowering rope. A garden hose adapter and a universal cut-to-fit adapter turn the mixer into a transfer pump. Swap the Aerojet for the hose attachment to drain the tank or move solution to another reservoir.
Setting Up a Nutrient Mixing Pump in the Tank
A nutrient mixing pump only works well when it sits flat and stays put on the tank floor. Tighten the stabilizing foot screws fully, then place the unit against the sidewall with both tips of the foot touching it. Clear leaves and debris from the tank before setup, and install the pump in an empty tank when possible. Lower it with the rope, never by the air hose or the power cord. Keep at least 5 1/2 inches of water over the pump before starting it, since the shaft seal is water lubricated. The end of the air intake hose must stay above the water and free of kinks. Add nutrients slowly while the pump runs, and keep dry salts to no more than a quarter pound per gallon. The pump is built for timed runs rather than nonstop duty. Run a 50 to 100 gallon tank for about 15 minutes, then rest it for 30. Tanks of 1,000 to 3,000 gallons run about four hours, followed by four hours of rest. Clean the pump regularly, and always unplug it before moving or servicing it.
Key Features
- Mix and aerate at once: The Aerojet fitting injects air into the discharge stream while it circulates the tank.
- Three kit sizes: Mini for 15 to 80 gallons, Regular and Tall for tanks up to 3,000 gallons.
- 3/4 HP or 1/6 HP pump: Up to 4,450 GPH on the Regular and Tall kits, 1,600 GPH on the Mini.
- Doubles as a transfer pump: Garden hose and cut-to-fit adapters for draining or moving solution.
- Stabilizing foot: Holds the pump flat against the tank wall for steady flow.
- Fewer parts in the tank: Replaces separate paddle mixers, air pumps and air stones.
